  1. As you mentioned, extensive reading has many advantages for the learners. As teachers, one of our main goals should be to encourage students to read and make them believe that reading can be fun, by only choosing the right book that matches their interest.

  2. Unfortunately the new technology has dominated our students interests in reading books. Recently, students would post on facebook rather than read a story which really has been threatening their English skills and reading abilities. Teachers must cooperate with parents to start at lower levels of teaching kids how to read interesting short stories and articles which will eventually improve to extensive reading. If no correcting action is taken immediately, a bright future seems to be impossible..!

  3. We as teachers should try to help our students to read and love reading. In the classroom, we should let the students read not only in the elementary levels, but also in the secondary and high school levels. Also let the students read in all the subjects, not only in language subjects (for example, reading problems, experiments and so on). Hopefully, in this way, students realize the importance of reading and how it positively affects their learning.

  4. I am one who started adopting extensive reading and I recommend every teacher to work on this. Learners think of reading as a punishment. They struggle to end up reading a text, but if they were raised up in an environment where reading is a habit, they will find it something that goes smoothly and it will be enjoyable. It is our mission as teachers to start working on this issue.
